Nathan Bontrager

Cellist Nathan Bontrager, from the United States, is at home in a variety of musical styles ranging from Renaissance music to the traditional music of the Appalachian mountains to avant-garde jazz.  All of these genres and experiences influence his approach and voice as an improviser.  Bontrager has performed throughout North and South America, Europe and the Middle East and has regularly collaborated with, among others, Anthony Braxton, Marc Ribot, Mary Halvorson, Gerry Hemingway and Joe Morris.  As a composer, he has written pieces for solo cello, choir and various chamber music ensembles.  In addition to the cello, Bontrager is an active performer on the viola da gamba, fiddle and banjo.  He currently is based out of Cologne, Germany.


Elisabeth Coudoux

Elisabeth Coudoux studied Cello in Dresden and Jazz Cello with Frank Gratkowski in Cologne. She is intensely interested in free improvisational music and new contemporary music.
As part of the „Trio CEL“ she got a scholarship for performing the concert series „CELling“ with different guests. As a composer and cellist (improvising and live-acting) she is member of ‘Polychrome Orchestra’, ‘Tonverbrechung’ and ‘phase::vier’ and improvises with Orchestras as “gRoBa”, “Multiple Joyce Orchestra”, “WIO” “das große Ding” and “Ensemble X”. Elisabeth performed with musicians as Ernst Reijseger, Paul Hubweber, Frank Gratkowski, Sebastian Gramss, Carl Ludwig Hübsch, Francesco Dillon, Nuno Aroso, Joscha Oetz, Wollie Kaiser and Scott Fields (Feartet). She took part in several theater productions and CD-recordings (Patricia Kelly).


Nora Krahl

Nora Krahl is passionate about contemporary music and performed at Festivals as Ruhrtriennale, Munich Biennale, Bang on a Can Summer Festival or the International Conference of ISEA 2010.  She worked with composers as Helmut Lachenmann, Martin Bresnick, Tristan Murail, Michael Gordon and Johannes Kalitzke. Nora Krahl focuses also on acoustic and electronic improvisation. She performs with CHROMATOPHORE, die letzte Derniere, Multiple Joyce Orchestra and with musicians as Joëlle Léandre, Frank Gratkowski, Oguz Büyükberber and Tobias Klein. She also worked in Theater plays as Kölner Schauspielhaus or Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg. Nora has been awarded scholarships by the DAAD,  Arts Foundation NRW, Paul-Sacher Foundation Basel, Ensemble Modern and Allianz Kulturstiftung. She was Artist in Residence in Istanbul and New York. Nora holds a music diploma from the Folkwang University Essen.
